Penellen Reviews

  • MARVELLOUS VIEW OF THE BAY : Situated right above the St.Ives Bay. We spent the first evening simply watching kite surfers play with the tide and wind until the sun went down. All from the comfort of the conservatory. Our bed room had a sea view, was attractive, clean with good facilities. Breakfast good too. Our hostess was exceptionally welcoming and helpful.Right on the Coastal Path.

  • BEAUTIFUL AND ON THE BEST BEACH! : Beautiful accommodation in the best location. Best beach on your doorstep. We stayed in the Dolphin bungalow which was clean, modern and pretty & a brilliant base to call home for a week!... or two. Beds very comfortable and quiet. Can see St Ives from our living room!

  • HONEYMOON : Our stay here was perfect from start to end, the owners Barbra and Paul were fantastic and have great customer service skills, no job too small. We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon and will be coming back again for our wedding anniversary! We also love George the dog! Can not fault the place one bit, the perfect relaxing holiday we needed!

  • 3-NIGHT LATE-SUMMER BREAK : The owner, Barbara was very polite and efficient in response to my original request for accommodation. We arrived early which proved to be no problem and the room was of a high standard-very clean and well-specced. Bottles of water, supplies of tea and coffee and Cornish biscuits replenished daily was lovely. Very nice breakfasts each day, with a wide selection. All rooms have sea views onto a glorious beach, part of St Ives Bay. Plenty of guest-parking. Barbara and Paul were lots of fun.Very enjoyable stay, thank you, Barbara and Paul (and Georgie the Shepherd).

  • BEAUTIFUL HAYLE / ST IVES BAY / RIVIERE TOWANS : Haven't been down to Hayle for years so it was nice to come back. The hotel was just perfect with a lovely spacious room and bathroom and a brilliant view of the beach. Barbara was very welcoming and produced a proper English full breakfast for us. We loved every minute in Cornwall and at the Pennellen and will certainly be back next year .

  • WEEKS BREAK : This is the most fantastic B&B I've stayed in. The accommodation is clean and fresh and has everything you need in the rooms. The owners are friendly and nothing is any trouble if you need anything. The views are amazing and the area is fantastic. I can't praise it enough. Our week away was the most relaxing I've had in years. Thank you so much.

  • BEAUTIFUL, QUIET AND SUPERB OCEAN VIEW : A great place to spend a few quiet days at the sea. Our room (No. 2) was very clean and perfectly equipped for the three of us. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly all the time. Breakfast is great. The only thing you can hear at night is the sound of the waves as the hotel is right at the beach. There's a little shop nearby and a pub in walking distance. We'll miss the ocean view from the balcony, fabulous!

  • BEAUTIFUL HOTEL : We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the hotel, the views are to die for and Barbara is a fabulous host. The hotel is immaculate and sits just above the beach which makes it perfect for all age groups and is only 15 minutes away from St Ives. I cannot recommend this beautiful part of Cornwall highly enough and the same goes for the hospitality received.

  • PERFECT STAY : From the moment you step in you feel very welcome and you get treated very well! Barbara and Paul are one of the most welcoming host I have ever met. The view is exceptional! ANd if you sit on the balcony you can watch the surfers and listen to the waves of the ocean. The rooms are really tidy and have a modern interior, which fits just perfectly for the Penellen. Not only the bedroom, but also the bathroom was super clean! It had a really big, modern shower, with a few gadgets for changing the shower head. You have really fast WiFi and the beds are so comfortable you don't want to get up in the morning!THe breakfast was amazing...there was a good selection of yogurts, teas, coffee and if you desire even a full English Breakfast. I totally recommend booking a stay in this lovely B&B and I will come back!

  • LOVELY VIEW :   The rooms are very nice. Stunning view. Near the beach. Supermarket around the corner. Barbara and Paul (the owners) are very very friendly. Make you feel very welcome. It is not just a night away or a week. It is more like staying at a friends house even if you haven't known them before. The Bathroom was very modern and new. The beds were very comfortable. The room was very tidy and clean. Breakfast was very nice. Good selection of yogurth, fruit, cereal, tea and coffe and their is the option for a cooked english breakfast and toast. The internet worked perfectlyThe only issue is that it takes ages to get there when you walk on the normal road. Take a taxi or use the south west coastal path and you will come to the Penellen quicker. Would defenitly go there again and can't recomanded it enough.

  • FORGOTTEN HOW STUNNING THIS PLACE IS! : Well, for various reasons it's been a long time since we visited the Penellen. What's changed: the views....no, the comfort....no, the breakfast.....no, the welcome....no. The balcony was a fabulous place to sit and relax after a days sightseeing, looking across the bay to St ives and listening to the waves...Perfect!!!! So near to such a lot of famous places. Only stayed four nights but packed in some serious touristy places. We visited Mousehole, Penzance St Michael's Mount and the Pendeen Lighthouse, all within a short drive. Thank you so much Paul and Barbara. I don't think we will leave it so long before another visit

  • RELAXING, CLEAN AND INVITING: Both myself and my Girlfriend stayed here for one night on 6th April 2016 and we can honestly say it was the right choice. Clean, tidy, everything you could want, amazing views, friendly staff and great food for breakfast. A short drive to places like St Ives, Penzance and St Michaels Mount makes this an excellent location to stay the night

  • PERFECT NIGHT AWAY : The Penellen is perfect. I booked this a few weeks ago so I could take my partner away for the night. We arrived to a very friendly lady who showed us around and the place was immaculate. Our room was no 4 and had a side view of the beach and it really made the room perfect. From the room you can see St Ives which is only a 15 minute drive away. The Penellen is in the best place for visiting local attractions as everything is within a 20 min drive.  Our room was clean and tidy and the bed was really comfortable. The shower was that nice that we didn't want to get out and so relaxing. The breakfast the following day was amazing, no grease at all, everything cooked perfectly. The carpark is free and the wifi is quick. This is the idea place to stay if you are looking for comfort and cleanliness 10/10

  • FOR THE PERFECT STAY; STAY HERE Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Penellen Hotel over the Easter weekend and it couldn't have been better. The owners were very friendly from the moment we arrived to when we left. They were genuinely nice people and we're happy to help us with what to do and where to go. The room was clean, and the views of the coastline and sky from our window were stunning! - no matter what time of day (and despite the terrible weather that weekend). The location is great if you enjoy coastal walks, and if you have a car, there are also many beautiful places nearby to go visit. The bed was very comfy, and just what we needed after a long drive down from Manchester. The shower was actually the best I've ever had in a hotel/B&B. It was powerful and the temperature stayed consistent. The bathroom was clean, with instant hot water from the taps.We both would recommend staying here, and we will come back and stay here again when we next come to Cornwall.

  • WONDERFUL SEA VIEWS Enjoyed a very comfortable 2 night stay at this perfectly located B&B. Our room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated with a large en suite shower room and a fantastic view across the bay. The breakfasts were lovely - full English with all the trimmings ! The beach is accessible via a pleasant short walk below, and Carbis Bay and St. Ives are a few minutes drive away. The front garden overlooks the bay with seating and tables where you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. Really great place to stay, and our hosts were absolutely lovely. Highly recommended.

  • A fantastic location with breathtaking views. We were received with a lovely welcome from Barbara and Paul and found them to be wonderful to us throughout our stay. The room we stayed in was perfect in every way. The breakfast every morning was lovely with everything we could wish for. This really has to be one of the best places to stay in Cornwall, we loved it and will be definitely returning as soon as we can. Don't take my word for it give it a try you won't be disappointed.
